First of all, what is a gallon? A gallon is a unit of volume, liquid or dry capacity, equivalent to eight pints. Pints are unit of volume equivalent to 1/8 of a gallon. For example; a pint of milk, a glass of beer,etc.

To convert gallons to liters, if it’s for liquids, you will multiply the number of the gallon by 3.785411784 or 3.785, to get the volume of liters in that gallon. If it’s for an imperial gallon, you multiply by 4.54609 or 4.55 approximately, then if its for dry goods, you multiply by 4.405 or 4.41 approximately. For example:

*Calculate how many liters of liquids in 10 gallon.

         Solution

1 gallon of liquid = 3.785 liters

10 gallons of liquids= 3.785 × 10 = 37.85 liters are in 10 gallons.

*How many liters of liquid are there in 14 gallons?

         Solution

1 gallon of liquid = 3.785 liters

14 gallons of liquid = 3.785 × 14 = 52.99 liters are in 14 gallons.

*Calculate how many liters in 6 imperial gallons.

           Solution

1 imperial gallon = 4.55 liters

6 imperial gallons = 4.55 × 6 = 27.3, therefore, there are 27.3 liters in 6 imperial gallons.

*How many liters are in 12 imperial gallons?

          Solution

1 imperial gallon = 4.55 liters

12 imperial gallons = 4.55 × 12 = 54.6 liters.

*Calculate how many liters of dry goods in 5 gallons.

          Solution

1 gallon = 4.41 liters

5 gallons = 4.41 × 5 = 22.05 approximately 22 liters.

*Convert 7 gallons of dry goods to liters. 

           Solution

1 gallon = 4.405 liters

7 gallons = 4.405 × 7 = 30.835 approximately 31 liters.

*Convert 8 gallons of liquid to liters.

           Solution
