In a significant development for the golfing community, the Genesis Invitational, a PGA Tour event traditionally held at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, has been relocated to Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego due to the devastating wildfires affecting the Los Angeles area. The tournament is scheduled to take place from February 13 to 16, 2025.
The decision to move the event comes in response to the extensive damage and loss of life caused by the wildfires in Los Angeles. The relocation aims to ensure the safety of participants and attendees while supporting the affected communities. Tiger Woods, the host of the Genesis Invitational, expressed his gratitude to the city of San Diego and Torrey Pines for accommodating the event on short notice. Torrey Pines Golf Course is renowned for hosting prestigious tournaments, including the U.S. Open, and regularly serves as the venue for the Farmers Insurance Open. The course’s South Course will be utilized for the Genesis Invitational, marking a rare instance of Torrey Pines hosting two PGA Tour events within a short span. Organizers plan to leverage existing infrastructure from recent tournaments to facilitate a seamless transition for the upcoming event.
