Breaking News Paul Finebaum Reveals Realistic Candidate To Replace Hugh Freeze At Auburn… full details below

The Auburn Tigers’ struggles continued into Week 10 of the 2024 college football season, when they suffered a 17-7 loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores, dropping them to 3-6 on the season. The loss marks the fourth straight season Auburn has lost five or more SEC games in a season, the school’s first such loss since 1930.

Head Coach: In his second year as head coach, Hugh Freeze has been unable to change the Tigers’ trajectory from when predecessor Bryan Harsin had the keys to the team. He is 9-13 compared to 9-12 for Harsin, who was fired midway through the 2022 season.

There are no clear indications that Auburn is making a coaching change, but ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum recently mentioned candidates Auburn officials would want if they parted ways with Freeze. Finebaum praised Sumrall\’s track record. The Tulane boss is in his first season at the school after taking over from Troy. In three seasons as a head coach, he’s 30-6.

“I don’t know him very well, but I’ve interviewed him,” Finebaum added. “I’ve heard Sumrall’s name mentioned off the cuff in connection with two different SEC jobs (Aubrun and Kentucky) that are not currently open. That would make him a hot prospect right away… There are literally two schools right now that, if we were to make a change, he would be first on that list. That’s how welcomed and respected he is.”

Auburn gets a bye in Week 11 before finishing the season with games against Louisiana-Monroe, No. 10 Texas A&M and No. 14 Alabama. Kick-off against Louisiana
