It sucks for the game of golf, what is happening right now.

Money can change everything.

Separation in a professional game, now it’s not fun, “said former Colt Knost-Analyst, reacting Thursday to Ramm News on Siriusxm Radio.

“…

Seeing that half of the best players in the world play somewhere, and half the best game in another place is not good.

I never in my life imagined something like this would happen on the PGA Tour or in professional golf.

The major tournaments are the best for us.

This has always been true, but even more so today. Rahm won’t be back to defend his title at The Sentry next month, or the American Express, or the Genesis, which is Tiger’s event.

Two of those three are Signature Events with the top players, but the fields instantly diluted now that Rahm has left.

Our chances of seeing the best players in golf on Earth are at the same time limited by four weeks of the year.

That’s all.

After the announcement of the merger between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and Saudi PIF, Rahm was supposed to be part of the PGA Tour solution  a star to build around.

But his departure shows that, despite a framework agreement, peace is still not on the horizon between the Tour and LIV.

Perhaps this is a final honor for the LIV brass, a warning to opponents of the power LIV still wields after capturing two major championships, or maybe Rahm knows something we don’t and the two could work together in the near future.

Maybe he gets a big check now, but can he get the best of both worlds later?

For now, any tournaments he attends on the weekends will be affected. Golf has been worse in this department, but Thursday may have been a turning point.

Could it be worse?

There may be a few more defections after Lamb, but it won’t be much.

There is a call for the sports world to come together.

The 2024 golf tournament schedule has already been finalized, but a December 31 deadline looms in the framework agreement.

Maybe there’s some kind of world tour on the way, or maybe it’s an opportunity for stars from each league to play in the other league’s main events.

Thursday may have been just what was needed to get things moving in the right direction.

Eventually a solution will be found, but the status quo cannot continue. That doesn’t work. Golf fans deserve better.
