Luke Humphreys reveals unusual darts problem and still unhappy after winning title
Luke Humphreys won the New Zealand Masters for his first World Series of Darts victory, but he’s still unhappy with his past performances.
World number one Luke Humphreys finally won his first World Series of Darts title at the New Zealand Masters, but he’s not happy.
With an 8-2 victory over Damon Heta in the final, Humphreys claimed the ยฃ20,000 top prize, exorcising the ghosts of World Series past that had eluded him until now. After losing the first leg, Humphries quickly turned things around to lead 5-1 before dominating the final three games to seal the result and prove why he is the reigning world champion.
New Zealand Masters will celebrate the seventh event in this year’s series and create the next World Series Darts Finals in Amsterdam.
The tournament was created by PDC in 2013 when Michaelvangelben defeated Nathan Aspinara in the finals of last year.
He has won the World Championship, World Cup and World Match Championship this year, but winning the World Series of Darts was one honour missing in Humphries’ career.
The 29-year-old has been open about the challenges he has faced, admitting that in the past Cool Hand Luke would have been more focused on other major tournaments.
