“Things can change quickly”
Luke Humphreys scores a big win over Stephen Bunting to secure a second-round draw with Riccardo Pietreco. The reigning champion and current world champion said:

“When I was down 0-2, I was thinking: ‘I don’t deserve to not win the set’, but he was roaring and hitting the right scores at the right times, and that made it incredibly difficult for me. I was just trying to get on the board.

\”Things can turn around quickly in this format, if you can\’t get on then all of a sudden it can change the whole game around. “I felt like the match was over but I put my foot on the board. Then I relaxed and thought maybe Stephen would win but I fought back, won the second set and played decently.”

He added: “I’m dealing with (the added pressure) very well. You can only deal with it with experience. I don’t think it’s terrible, I like it.

“It was a pretty tough game because people were screaming when I was pitching. It was tough, but you just need to have a little bit of respect when you’re pitching. That’s all you need. \ “After a few legs, I thought I was not attracted to the emotion of the crowd and what they sing against you, and try to win the game. I did at the end and I had a lot Luckily to be honest. \ “

Rob Cross was addressed to the media afterwards and revealed that it was relieved to enter the second round against Luke Littler – in particular with his recent record in this competition. Voltage said: “Just progressing [is enough] with my record in this tournament is obviously not good.

“The first set had a lot of consequences, it was bad, I was bad. But it’s a good start and a small help.

\ “After the first set, I think I started to get the rhythm and flow of the game. After that, I felt better. .”

CROSS has been added: \ “[Littler \’S] Very good, so I put him in front of him to get a new one and then go beyond the line. “At first I thought I’d give it another go, but it didn’t work out. But then I had a good leg in the second set and after that I felt my throws were very solid.

“Then 180, 149, 32, seven magic darts, everything perfect. This gives me a bit of confidence for the next two days.”
